Why Dont I Get An Acknowledgment Letter for Submitting My Resume - Hallie Crawford
Why Donât I Get An Acknowledgment Letter for Submitting My Resume Are you among the job seekers who complain that no one acknowledges receipt of your resume? If so, youâre not alone. An article, âWhy You Canât Get a Jobâ¦Recruiting Explained By the Numbers,â by Dr. John Sullivan, a professor and corporate recruiting strategist, explains the reasons. He writes that on average, 250 resumes are received for each corporate job opening and the first resume arrives within 200 seconds after a position is posted. Due to the overwhelming number of responses, not receiving an acknowledgment letter for submitting your resume is the norm today. The challenge for you as a job seeker is to continue to be consistent in your application efforts. One way to fight your discouragement is not to expect an acknowledgment letter. Then, when you do receive one, hopefully it will invite you for an interview. Dr. Sullivan makes additional suggestions to help you in submitting your resume: · Ensure you meet the basic qualifications for a job and if not, donât apply for it. · Be aware that even if you do meet the basic qualifications, you may not receive an interview because the job qualifications may change after the job was posted. · Make sure you have no errors or typos on your resume which would cause you to be eliminated from consideration. While applying for jobs can be daunting, patience and persistence are the two traits that separate people who get jobs from those that donât. Keep up your patience and persistence by attending networking events, job support groups, and considering hiring a career coach. When youâre looking for a job, you can always use extra help!
